1978 saw the addition of Astroworld's fourth coaster, Greezed Lightnin', a Schwarzkopf catapult-launched shuttle loop. Unlike other rollercoasters of the same design, this model used the flywheel launch instead of the less intense weight-drop method. Greezed Lightnin' accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds; although modern LIM coasters can accomplish this same result, in 1978 this method was ingenious. After your initial launch, you were thrown into a nearly circular loop and then over 100 feet into the air at a 70-degree incline.
